ISSF Matches…

ISSF stands for International Shooting Sport Federation.  All ISSF matches are conducted according to the rules and requirements of the Federation.  Five of the ISSF Matches are shot at both the Commonwealth and the Olympic Games.  The matches shot at the Murrumba Pistol Club are:

  1. Rapid Fire Pistol

It is a 60 shot match (excluding sighters) over 25 metres using .22LR semi automatic Pistols.  The course of fire is one shot on each of 5 side by side rapid fire targets during a set time period.

The times are:

  • Two series of 5 shots in 8 seconds
  • Two series of 5 shots in 6 seconds
  • Two series of 5 shots in 4 seconds

The above sequence is shot twice.

2. Centre Fire Pistol

It is a 60 shot match (excluding sighters) over 25 metres using .32 to .38/.357 semi automatic pistols or revolvers.

The match is shot in two separate stages:

  • Stage 1 – Precision stage: 5 shots in 5 minutes, repeated 6 times using precision targets
  • Stage 2 – Rapid fire stage: 1 shot on each 3 second face of the target, 5 times, using rapid fire targets. The target faces for 7 seconds and faces the shooter for 3 seconds. This sequence is repeated 6 times

3. 25 – Metre Pistol

Again a 60 shot match (excluding sighters) over 25 metres, using .22LR semi automatic pistols.

The match consists o f a precision stage and a rapid fire stage, using the same timed sequences and targets as the Centre Fire match. The only difference being the calibre of the pistol used.

4. Standard Match

This is a 60 shot match (excluding sighters)over 25 metres using .22LR semi automatic pistols.

This match is hot in 3 timed stages using precision targets:

  • Stage 1 – 5 shots in 150 seconds
  • Stage 2 – 5 shots in 20 seconds
  • Stage 3 – 5 shots in 10 seconds

5. 50 – Metre Pistol

This is a 60 shot match (excluding sighters) over 50 metres, as the name implies, using .22LR calibre pistols.

The course of fire shot on 50 metre precision targets consists of:

1 Series o f 10 shots in 30 minutes
5 Series of 10 shots in 18 minutes/series

Firearms for this match are mainly single shot pistols. However if the pistol used has a magazine only one cartridge may be loaded.

6. 10 Metre Air Pistol – Paper Targets

This match is shot over 10 metres using .177 calibre air pistols.

The course of fire shot on 10 metre air pistol targets consists of:

  1. 60 Competition shots in 1 hour 30 minutes for men and junior men
  2. 60 Competition shots in 1 hour 30 minutes for women and junior women

One shot only is allowed on each of the 60 separate targets.  If the pistol used has a 5 shot capacity, only one pallet maybe loaded.
